Justice Committee

The purpose of the Justice Committee is to manage and oversee the efforts of the DIAKONIA World Federation (DWF) with regard to issues of justice. Note that the term justice is preferred to ‘social justice’, as it needs to include environmental matters.

Specific foci (2024)

• Environmental matters: including climate change and resources for Season of Creation
• Human Rights in the Philippines
• Net Zero Emissions
• other matters brought to the attention of the Justice Committee by Member Associations

Duties include:
a. Research justice initiatives undertaken by our member communities, other ecumenical partners and individuals.
b. Imagine ways that the members of our organisation might be supportive of justice work.
c. Set priorities and develop a plan for concentrating the justice work of DWF.
d. Recruit leaders to facilitate events and programs that promote justice networking, information sharing, and learning.
e. Publicise these opportunities, in cooperation with the Communications Committee, using the various DWF Communication platforms.
